St, Fitzroy
A major
re-build of a three-storey terrace home in fashionable Fitzroy,
this project was a technical nightmare, given the constraints of
building within a very small parcel of land in the inner-city. Deliveries
and storage were a real and ongoing challenge. The facade had to
be retained to meet Council guidelines, while the rest of the home
was basically re-built from scratch. The dwelling includes several
bathrooms, (one with a suspended spa overlooking the city), a modern
kitchen, an open-plan gallery, and loads of highly specialised finishes
such as stainless steel, glass and eye-catching timber veneer cabinetry
throughout. The project was judged the MBAV Best Renovation (over
$600K) in 2003.
